April/2017. Congratulations to Juliana Valencia-Serna for successfully defending her PhD thesis. Juliana has completed her PhD program after taking a series of interdisciplinary courses, conducting an integrated set of research studies on chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and completing a professional development program. During her studies, Juliana was awarded several scholarships, including the prestigious/competitive Alberta Innovates Health Sciences (AIHS) studentship, which expedited her PhD studies. Juliana published a series of high-caliber studies whose impact has been realized by the research community. Juliana’s studies helped to found a start-up company whose goal is to develop innovative therapeutic agents for leukemias. We will Juliana best of luck in her future endeavors.
