April/2019. We are delighted to secure funding from the NSERC Discovery program to continue our explorations of polymeric biomaterials for gene delivery applications. Our work has evolved over the years from simple plasmid DNA delivery to delivery of emerging nucleic acids such as siRNA, microRNA, mRNA and others. This has led to requirements and development of new multifunctional polymeric materials to enable gene-based therapeutics. We established a spin-off company to distribute our reagents to others and explore the clinical utility of our therapies. NSERC has recognized our pioneering research with a large Discovery Grant ($55,000/year for 5 years) that will allow us to make a greater impact. We appreciate this public trust and will conduct our research to provide a return to public funders.
